So my 2-year-old has been going through some "stuff" lately. Not sure what the deal is. I've never had a 2-year-old before so I really don't know what's normal and what's not. He has gotten rather whiny and clingy and all of the sudden went from being a Daddy's boy to being a Momma's boy. Not a big deal - I don't mind. It's just been a rather big swing for him the past few weeks.
And he also seems to have become a teenager overnight. Sleeps until 9:30 or 10:00 most mornings now. And if you wake him up before he's ready, CRAN-KY. Majorly. Yesterday he woke up at 7:30 and acted like he wasn't planning on going back to sleep anytime soon, so I hauled everyone out of bed. Bad idea - whining, bawling, Mr. Sassypants curled up on my lap, refusing to get down for anything, for most of the morning. I think he gets that from his mother .. don't tell her I said that ....
Other teenager antics - if you tell him no, or you won't let him do something he wants to do, he just takes off to the bedroom and shuts the door behind him. Stays in there by himself until he's done pouting. Or until Mickey Mouse Clubhouse starts the next round of commercials anyway.
And all of the sudden, he's an eating machine. This morning, he ate a whole plate full of his own breakfast - a scrambled egg, bacon, some beef sausage and some toast. Then proceeded to feast off my plate. And then off his dad's. He was like a grazing goat. Some days we can't get him to eat a darned thing other than Twizzlers, then you have days like today where he was a bottomless pit.
He has also developed an aversion to bathing. Not sure what that's all about. He used to scream if you did something that usually resulted in a bath but didn't (like simply walking to the bathroom). Now you have to take him kicking and screaming to the bathtub.
So all of the sudden, my 2-year-old has turned into a moody, late sleeping, dirty, eating machine. I can't wait until we reach the actual teenage years ....
